Kiehls Regent Street
This store was one of the most important Kiehls stores that we have designed and implemented. Especially as it is a flagship store on the iconic Regent Street in London. The site provided many challenges from the start, previously being home to a rather tacky London tourist gift store with little maintenance work being addressed in it’s time. We started by surveying the space and putting together a design and construction pack which we took through the planning process with the Crown Estate who oversees Regent Street and is understandably strict. We oversaw the entire construction works including tanking and repairing structure in the basement which was sodden and leaking behind the previous shopfit. The store design incorporated much of the design elements found in the US brand’s identity including two vintage Harley Davidson motorcycles, New York inspired graffiti and Apothecary furniture. Using custom subway style ceramic tiles and brick slips the basement was transformed into a spacious retail area with consultation and treatment areas, supporting the brand’s ‘hands on’ approach to cosmetics.
