Ted Baker Malaysia Genting
Malaysia Genting outlet village is located up in the Genting Highlands in an integrated hill resort development comprising hotels, shopping malls, theme parks and casinos, perched on the peak of Mount Ulu Kali at 1,800 meters high near the border between the states of Pahang and Salangor. One of the most interesting features is the theme park which was opened in 1994 and closed in 2013 to be developed into the world’s first 20th Century Fox World. We decided to use the Themepark to steer our design concept, bringing the British themepark to Malaysia with a “big top” ceiling design, custom printed wallpaper taking it’s shapes and colours from the classic Helter Skelter ride. The cashdesk is styled as a claw grabber machine with old British copper coins under the glass worktop and a backwall featuring some humorous takes on British ride names and a wall of goldfish prizes behind the cashdesk. The fixtures are another example of the modular outlet scheme which we were part of developing and in this project entirely detailed for local manufacture. We had a lot of fun with this project as the budget was quite small compared with other projects so value engineering and clever cost effective props played a large role in delivering the project.
