Whittard Covent Garden
Whittard Covent Garden was a very different project to the other Whittard stores we worked on. Covent Garden was an existing store for Whittard but the initial fitout was extremely rushed and mainly utilised Ikea "Billy" bookcases due to the difficult heights in the basement level's vaults. We designed and developed a system of modular perimeter fixtures which could be adapted to display different product formats and would work with the vaulted ceilings in the basement. Our aim was to maximise the selling space in a confined area without overloading with products and therefore making it feel cluttered. We zoned off the basement level as an instore experience area with sample bars and consultation areas, whilst keeping the ground floor as the main product selling space. This way Whittard could use the basement as a trial space to test concepts including a tea/coffee bar, tasting areas, educational installations and art installations in handmade ceramics.
